The time when COSPLAY appeared in Hong Kong seems to be earlier than that of Taiwan. It is said that Hong Kong had its own COSPLAY as early as 1993. At that time, there was no comrades in Hong Kong, that is, the same people’s associations were exhibited and sold through the festival venues held in Hong Kong at that time. It was in that year (1993) The “four hundred feet” of the accomplices organized in the “Galaxy Heroes Legend” in the uniform of the Allied forces appeared in the venue, and this group of people became the first COSPLAY in Hong Kong. In 1995, the “four hundred feet” played the role of “Mobile Police”, and “UVRZ” began to play some famous anime and game characters in the same year, such as “Right Jing” in “Ranma 1/2″ or ” Bellordan in my God of Love. Since the beginning of 1996, the “four hundred feet” community has begun to retire and no longer do any COSPLAY, but at the same time, the other fan clubs have begun to play dress up, making the number of Hong Kong COSPLAY people always climb high. Because of the year-on-year expansion of influence, the Hong Kong Comics Association began to hold the first anime exhibition that really belongs to comic fans from July 30 to August 3, 1998. In contrast, the COSPLAY appeared on the mainland late. It was not until 1998 that there was a sporadic and spontaneous personal COSPLAY show in the country. However, due to the maturity of COSPLAY in Japan, Taiwan and Hong Kong, the COSPLAY in mainland China has grown rapidly and steadily. In August 2000, the first COSPLAY contest in mainland China was successfully held. In the following year, Huayi Company, with its great influence in online games, launched the “2001 Best COSPLAY Competition” in the name of “Stone Age”. At the same time, due to the frequent opening of exhibitions and fan exhibitions in Shanghai, Guangzhou and Beijing, the COSPLAY of today’s mainland has also reached a certain scale.
Due to the popularity of games in the mainland in recent years and the influence of foreign animation, more people have begun to like COSPLAY, and now there are various COSPLAY groups on the Internet to enter people’s attention.
